New Exemplar Luxury Group Plans Life After Saks Bankruptcy

Saks Global has emerged from Chapter 11 and has rebranded under a new name — the Exemplar Luxury Group.

The company said late Friday afternoon that, as expected, it completed its restructuring process, putting it under new ownership with "a substantially strengthened balance sheet, including a nearly 75 percent debt reduction, sufficient liquidity and the full backing of its capital partners and other key stakeholders." Saks Global declared bankruptcy in January 2026, a result of its inability to pay vendors and sustain ample levels of inventory, and huge debt, all stemming from the $2.7 billion acquisition of the Neiman Marcus Group in December 2024, in a deal led by Richard Baker.
